The Sylkoil waxed cotton shell is waterproof when freshly waxed and develops a distinguished patina over years of use that Barbour owners consider a feature, not a flaw. The jacket is cut shorter than the classic Beaufort, designed originally for equestrian use where a longer hem interferes with the saddle.
