The Duromatic is built from 18/10 stainless steel with an aluminum sandwich base for even heat distribution, and the spring-loaded valve system operates without jiggling, hissing, or guesswork. The five-point safety system includes redundant pressure release mechanisms that have made the Duromatic one of the safest pressure cookers ever produced.

Unlike electric pressure cookers with control boards that fail after a few years, the Duromatic is entirely mechanical — there are no electronics to obsolete. Kuhn Rikon provides a 10-year warranty on the body and sells replacement gaskets, valves, and handles directly.

Owners routinely report 15 to 20 years of daily use with nothing more than periodic gasket replacement. At approximately $230 for the 5-liter model, the cost-per-year over its working life comes in well under $15.

The Duromatic is what pressure cooking looks like when engineering, not marketing, drives the design.
