The Kerlon 1200 outer fabric is a triple-ripstop nylon with a silicone coating on both sides, producing a tear-strength-to-weight ratio that no competitor matches. The 9mm DAC Featherlite NSL aluminum poles are anodized for corrosion resistance and engineered to flex rather than snap under heavy wind and snow loads.
The linked inner-and-outer pitch design means the tent goes up as one unit in under three minutes, with the inner tent staying dry even in driving rain. The GT version adds a full-length vestibule for gear storage.
Hilleberg sells replacement parts for every component — poles, pole sections, guy lines, zippers, stakes, and even individual fabric panels — which means a damaged tent can be repaired rather than replaced. At approximately $800, the Nallo 2 GT is an investment, but mountain guides and expedition leaders report fifteen to twenty years of hard use before replacement.
Hilleberg does not cut corners because their customers sleep in places where equipment failure is genuinely dangerous.
