The Akka Forester's Axe is a 2-pound head on a 24-inch American hickory handle, sized for the versatility that backcountry use demands: light enough to carry on a multi-day trip, heavy enough to process campfire wood and limb fallen trees. The head is hand-forged from Swedish axe steel by smiths who have inherited the craft through generations, and each head is individually ground, hardened, and tempered.

The convex grind profile is optimized for wood splitting and limbing, and the poll is hardened for striking wedges. The hickory handle is oiled and ready for the field, and when it eventually needs replacement after years of heavy use, any standard 24-inch replacement handle fits the eye.

This is the fundamental BIFL proposition of a quality axe: the steel head is effectively permanent, and the wooden handle is a renewable consumable. At roughly $130, the Akka competes with mass-produced axes on price while delivering hand-forged Swedish steel.

The math over 30 years — one head, perhaps three handles — works out to under $6 per year for a professional-grade tool. Hults Bruk axes get sharper with proper maintenance.

They never get weaker.
