The 1-1/4 inch wide blade delivers 13 feet of unsupported standout, more than any consumer-grade tape on the market, and the 150-percent oversized hook grips edges from the top, side, or bottom without slipping. BladeArmor coating on the first six inches addresses the hook-end wear that kills most tapes long before the spring fails, and the Mylar polyester film extends the rest of the blade's working life by roughly 2x over uncoated tapes.

The chrome case with thermoplastic overmold survives drops that crack lesser bodies, and the top-forward blade lock is positive without pinching. Stanley backs it with a limited lifetime warranty against defects in material and workmanship.

At roughly $30 for a 35-foot tape that holds up to framing work, the cost-per-year math undercuts the $10 hardware-store tape replaced every two years for the next two decades. This is the tape that survives the truck.
